Teardown — opening the patient

Hold the base of the valve with the 4 mm open-end wrench and back the button off with the Allen wrench. Then pull the old snap ring with the snap ring pliers.

For the old O-rings: slip the push pin underneath and pop them out. They're not going back in — no need to be gentle.

2. New O-rings — bottom to top

Grease each O-ring generously with the Wasp Silicone Grease, then install the bottom one first, stretching it down into the first groove. Spring and bore

Grease the end of the spring and drop it into the bottom of the valve. Reassembly — the fiddly part

Flip the knife upside down. Gravity does the work and the spring stays put.

Push the valve in while twisting it. You'll feel it pass the snap ring groove — keep going until it bottoms out.

Don't skip this check: push the valve up and down. It should spring back out easily, no binding. If it drags, an O-ring isn't seated — better to find that now than underwater.

5. Snap ring — the trick that makes it easy

Push the snap ring past the groove, thread the button on temporarily, then pull up on the valve. The ring snaps into place on its own.

Tighten the button for good with the open-end wrench and Allen wrench.

6.
